Ideally, you need to start taking supplements with minerals and trace minerals. That's a great combination to calm your cravings.
Avoid excitotoxins in foods
The other thing that I guarantee most people haven't tried in terms of losing weight is avoiding all of the chemicals added to foods to make you hungry. These chemicals are called excitotoxins. The most common one is monosodium glutamate, or MSG. This ingredient is hidden in lots of other food ingredients such as yeast extract, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, autolyzed vegetable protein and so on. |

I have no financial ties to the pharmaceutical industry or the supplements industry, and I do not sell any such products or receive commissions on any such products. That's why my information is 100 percent unbiased and uninfluenced. It is the genuine truth about what's going on in the world in terms of prescription drugs, health, medicine and the real cures for cancer.
And in my opinion, Herceptin is pure hype, and the doctors and scientists pushing the drug are engaged in little more than scientific nonsense. There's just no credibility left in pharmaceutical medicine anymore. |
With all this talk about Herceptin being the cure for breast cancer, it's funny that you don't see the FDA sending warning letters to the manufacturer of this drug, claiming that these third-party statements are in fact going to be used against them, because the FDA claims that third-party statements about nutritional statements can be held against the very manufacturers of those supplements, even when those manufacturers didn't make those statements. Yet the FDA is doing nothing to shut down this over-hyped, exaggerated miracle-class language being used to describe this prescription drug. |

That's how the majority of so-called "alternative" studies are conducted: Researchers just happen to coincidentally use synthetic, low-dose vitamins or supplements, all the while acting like they're conducting real science.
This isn't real science. It's a charade. And once again, the mainstream media bought the whole thing hook, line and sinker.
If you're going to compare glucosamine with Celebrix, why not run another trial and compare calcium with crack? I can see the results now: "100% of the patients reported feeling better on crack. Therefore, calcium is useless. |
When Celebrex turned out to produce faster pain-reducing results, the mainstream media essentially declared glucosamine supplements to be useless.
It's nonsense, of course. All smoke and mirrors. Or, in this case, a comparison of apples and oranges. Masking pain with a painkiller is always fast. But if you really want to solve the underlying problem, you need good nutrition, not just dangerous chemicals that also cause heart attacks and strokes as side effects, by the way.
By the way, the study also used a low-dose, cheap version of glucosamine known to have poor assimilation. |

You don't see crooks in the business of selling vitamin B12 or cod liver oil or other supplements. Why hoodia?"
The answer is pure economics. Hoodia is where the money is. At $300 a kilogram, hoodia is quite a lucrative commodity. It approaches the price of some high-end industrial metal alloys or bulk diamonds. There's obviously money to be made when something can be sold for $300 a kilo and not be considered blatantly illegal (it's not crack cocaine, for example).
On top of that, there is very high consumer demand. |

If we had all just started taking some of these antiviral supplements, we could have stopped this thing in whatever city it started. In fact, we could've stopped it from forming altogether if we had reformed the way we raise animals for food. We could have saved maybe 50 million lives around the world. That's about how many people died in 1918, and at that time, the population of the world was much smaller, and people didn't travel as much as they do today. The cities were less dense back then. |

However, the fact remains that if someone does not do this, the Food and Drug Administration is sooner or later going to step in and either shut down the entire industry or regulate hoodia supplements out of existence. In fact, the FDA will probably quote some of my own research amongst the reasons for doing this, and this would be a great shame because it would take away a useful herb from the general public and put it under the jurisdiction of an organization that I believe to be highly corrupt -- perhaps even more corrupt than the hoodia industry itself. |

Adams: Is this procedure more widely used now, for example to make vitamin D supplements?
Dr. Holick: No, because this active form of vitamin D is available only by prescription. It's used to treat osteoporosis in Europe and Japan. And it's also used to treat bone disease and kidney failure patients, and has a lot of other uses as well.
Adams: So as you were doing the research on this, you were able to immediately observe the health impact of it, right away.
Dr. Holick: Exactly, and what we began to realize was that vitamin D was much more complex than thought. |

The FDA, in conjunction with the pharmaceutical industry, has been and continues to be engaged in the systematic suppression and discrediting of alternative medical supplements and products that are well proven to prevent chronic disease and even treat those diseases in a much safer manner than prescription drugs. In my view, the most serious crimes of the FDA are not its handling of Vioxx, nor its censorship of its own scientists... the real crimes are much larger and still not being discussed publicly. |

Why aren't we educating people about all the antiviral herbs, foods and supplements that are more powerful than a drug, and that can't create a resistant form of the virus? The virus cannot build resistance if you're eating 30 different antiviral foods. Why has the public not been told this information?
Unfortunately, these lessons may come at a very high price, because no one seems to pay attention in the world anymore, unless there's, A: A profit to be made, or B: A lot of people who died. |

Over the last few months, the FDA and state legal authorities have been going after a company selling various supplements and herbal formulas that promised to enhance breast size. According to the news reports, these products were unproven and entirely worthless in enhancing breast size, and the company was ordered to not only stop selling the products, but to also repay customers who had purchased them.
I applaud this kind of action if indeed these products were ineffective at doing what they promised to do. |

Yet, at the same time, the FDA would be legally justified in regulating hoodia supplements to protect the consumers from all the adulterated products on the market right now. Therefore, I wouldn't disagree with the FDA stepping into the hoodia industry, and I might even applaud them for doing so, however, I simultaneously don't trust the organization. Regardless, somebody needs to do something because, eventually, consumers are going to be harmed by some adulteration of this product, and I mean physically harmed, not just financially harmed. |

I've talked about antiviral foods like garlic and aloe vera and supplements like spirulina. I've put all this information out there for free, so spread this information. Help some other people get this, please. We can save some people. Maybe we can't save everybody, but at least those who are willing to reeducate themselves and who are open to new ideas, like the idea that nature has the answers here, and that's the truth.
I really appreciate your interest in this, and I'll do my best to bring you more solutions as I find them. I'm going to fight this thing all the way. |

Through experience I now feel that high-quality supplements can be quite helpful.
If you feel too restricted eating exactly what I recommend, you can always take up the fall-back position: eat a wider variety of raw plant foods including fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts, seeds, sprouts, sea vegetables, raw plant-food recipes, etc. Remember, the initial goal here is to eat as much raw plant food as we can adjust into our diet. Make your nutrition fun.

CHOLESTEROL-LOWERING DRUGS
Statin drugs are the most prescribed medicines for lowering cholesterol. In fact, Lipitor (generic name atorvastatin) is the top-selling drug on the planet, a $20 billion industry. They've been heralded as "miracle drugs" that reduce cholesterol counts and battle inflammation. Less frequently used drugs for high cholesterol include the bile acid sequestrants and fibrates. |

People diagnosed with depression (page 145) may have lower blood levels of omega-3 fatty acids.4'5 A double-blind trial found that bipolar patients taking 9.6 grams of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil (page 514) per day in addition to their conventional medications had significant improvements compared with those taking placebo.6

This means we do not benefit from their essential nutrients; most of them pass right through us. Our cells gradually begin to metabolize at a lower rate and body mineral reserves start to deplete. But when the body is in an acid-alkaline balance, cellular oxygenation is optimized, and the body is able to function efficiently, heal faster, and return to health. Additional information on how to check, monitor, and correct the body's pH can be found in chapter 21.

But do multivitamins help? Large studies have shown that a multivitamin a day or taking a suite of individual vitamins does not decrease the numbers of infections that people get. At best it may reduce the time you spend being sick by a day or so.
The multivitamin craze started with epidemiological studies showing lower rates of cancer and heart disease in people who eat lots of fruits and vegetables. It was assumed that the antioxidant properties of the vitamins in fruits and vegetables must prevent oxidative damage to LDL cholesterol and DNA. |

Fish oil, because of its omega-3 content, is one of the most potent anti-inflammatories on the planet. The anti-inflammatory action of the omega-3 fats found in fish oil has been proven in dozens of research studies, including the ongoing ATTICA study in Athens, Greece, that demonstrated direct evidence showing that omega-3s reduce blood markers of inflammation like C-reactive protein, which are increasingly accepted as key risk factors for heart disease. |

The Weight Loss Lie
Over 50 million people spend more than $40 billion annually to lose weight, yet we are in the worst shape in the history of modern civilization.
Fat is Not a Four-Letter Word
Fat is not a word that people like to use to describe overweight people. In our politically correct society everything is called by a different name. It reminds me of comedian George Carlin's very funny act based on calling things by a different name to parody political correctness. He would say things like, "You can't call anyone ugly. |

This focus on isolated nutrients is all part of the reductionistic approach to medicine, of course, and supplement manufacturers are guilty of the same dogmatic reasoning: they frequently manufacture and market supplements containing isolated phytochemicals that have been shown to have specific health benefits. There's nothing wrong with the intention, but it's missing the potentially much greater benefit of eating the whole food. |

Although iodine supplements helped, they did not entirely solve the problem. Researchers found that matters improved considerably if the processing of the soy formula included extraction with an organic solvent as well as heating.44 Although no one at the time identified the principal goitrogens as the isoflavones, alcohol solvent extraction is, in fact, the only way to remove them. Heat, pressure and alkaline treatments used in ordinary soy processing will not remove the isoflavones. |

A to Z Guide To supplements Few people eat enough phytochemicals
Do you eat six servings of uncooked, unprocessed fruits and vegetables each day? Probably not. Few people do. (I don't either.) The fact is the dietary desires and habits of most people in English-speaking countries simply don't allow much room for fresh, raw vegetables. Most people are lucky to get one salad each day. In fact, for many, that might be their only serving of fresh vegetables for the day. |
