Find people who do yoga, who get acupuncture, who eat well, who supplement with superfoods and supergreen supplements. Find people who take vitamins and use medicinal herbs. Find the kind of people you'd find in health food stores. Look at those people and ask yourself the same questions. How do they look? What kind of health do they seem to be demonstrating? If you compare these two groups, it becomes immediately obvious that the results you get are based on the belief system you follow. |
And we believe that individuals should have the right to choose what medicine, herbs, and supplements they wish to take to treat or prevent their own diseases or disorders, or just to stay healthy or enhance their health.
Healers and patients can have a connection. The patient, however, is the only real healer. The doctor or practitioner can only really educate and support the patient's own healing process. These are the beliefs of natural health. These are the beliefs which, frankly, organized medicine doesn't want you to ever adopt. |

Statin drugs are the most prescribed medicines for lowering cholesterol. In fact, Lipitor (generic name atorvastatin) is the top-selling drug on the planet, a $20 billion industry. They've been heralded as "miracle drugs" that reduce cholesterol counts and battle inflammation. Less frequently used drugs for high cholesterol include the bile acid sequestrants and fibrates.

If people really knew just how much they could prevent chronic disease with these plant extracts, medicinal herbs, vitamins, minerals, and supplements, the pharmaceutical industry would collapse overnight.
The defenders of "Big Pharma" and of organized medicine have realized that they can't win the information war. They can't prevent people from finding out how to be healthy. Believe me, they've tried! They've tried through censorship, oppression, influence, and even attempts to regulate medical information on the internet. |

Starting with diet, lifestyle and the proper use of supplements.
Mike: And on the cancer front?
Dr. Murray: I've written a book called "How To Prevent And Treat Cancer With Natural Medicine." I co-wrote this book with some colleagues that work on a day-to-day basis in the trenches with cancer patients. The book is endorsed by the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. It offers a very comprehensive, holistic approach to both the prevention and the treatment of cancer. And it's not an "either or" situation with our book. |

I talk about that, and also about supplements.
Mike: In the past few months, we've seen the FDA advisory panel make some rather precarious decisions on Vioxx, and part of the apparent reasoning of the panel was that they need to keep Vioxx and other Cox-2 inhibitors legal because people don't have alternatives. What are your thoughts on that?
Simontacchi: You see, that's not true. |
They think that something like baby aspirin is so benign that it goes in the supplements column.
Mike: So they don't think about gastrointestinal bleeding?
Simontacchi: That is exactly why Vioxx and Celebrex came off the market, because those medications caused bleeding and tremendous other problems. Now they're coming out with even stronger and more powerful medications than Vioxx, not because they need to do that, but because they've run the market dry on Vioxx and Celebrex, and they're looking for new markets. We just knew it was going to happen. |

Buy their aged garlic supplements. I do, and I recommend them to my family and friends. In fact, garlic has many other health benefits beyond cholesterol: the herb also fights cancer and greatly enhances immune system function.
Medicine from nature: blueberries
One of my favorite solutions for fighting cholesterol levels is eating lots of blueberries. Blueberries have now been proven to be more effective than statin drugs in reducing cholesterol levels, and yet they have absolutely no negative side effects whatsoever. You can get blueberries throughout the year if you go to the right stores. |

Most people keep their supplements in their medicine cabinets too. So, people aren't running to the bathroom before they eat, you know, it just doesn't happen.
Mike: It's usually after you eat.
Gregg: Exactly, yes.
Mike: Are you finding a good response to this product so far?
Gregg: Yes, we've got a real good response so far. We've got it into some good retail chains like I mentioned to you. So, obviously the buyers in the retail chains are very interested in it, and starting next week, we're starting some television advertising. So, we're going to try and start telling everybody about it. |

Since you don't have to look very hard to find "pro-soy" info but you might have to dig a little to get to hear "the other side," I suggest that anyone really interested in the soy controversy start by Googling Dr. Mary Enig and reading her extensive writing on soy, including "The Ploy of Soy" and "Soy Alert: Tragedy and Hype." Sesame lignans also help reduce cholesterol. In a study published in the Journal of Lipid Research, sesamin lowered both serum (blood) and liver cholesterol levels. Raw garlic juice is one of the most potent anti-cancer supplements you can consume. You can go to a grocery store right now, buy garlic, and make this yourself. This is more powerful than many drugs out there. It's a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It's antiviral, antibacterial, anti-cancer and anti-tumor. This is an amazing healing food.
Would they try to outlaw that? Right now, they're trying to outlaw extracts from different plants. It's only a small step for them to actually outlaw these foods. You'd have to have a prescription to buy garlic. |

Mike: For what kinds of products are these hemp seeds now being used in the foods and supplements industries?
Shamai: Well, there are some oils on the market -- hemp oil, crushed from the hemp seed. Again, that has the same ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 -- which it's most known for -- as well as the other omegas that I described, and we can talk more about that. So there are oils. People also take the entire seed and shell it -- that is, take the shell off the inside and you then just have the soft interior. So you're removing a lot of the carbs and leaving primarily protein and oil. |

So even though these countries are stockpiling Tamiflu, people would actually be far better protected by acquiring potent antiviral herbs, minerals and supplements as a protection against the bird flu virus.
But knowing the way most people think, few will actually prepare for this. And frankly, they might get away with it. There is a real possibility that the bird flu virus could be a bust. Maybe it will never become a pandemic. |

Tocotrienols
Tocotrienols are a form of the antioxidant vitamin E. Naturally found in palm oil and available as a supplement, research suggests that tocotrienols are the most potent antioxidants in the vitamin E family. They also show promise for cancer prevention, especially for breast and skin cancer. Studies have found that they can bring down LDL cholesterol counts through the same mechanism as statins, and that they protect the heart.
Dose: Take 100 mg per day of tocotrienols. This dose is fine to take in addition to the tocopherol form of vitamin E that's usually found in multivitamins. |

The high prevalence of counterfeit hoodia supplements sold in western countries may help explain why some hoodia users complain the herb isn't working for them. The reason is simple, it seems: they're not taking genuine hoodia gordonii.
The solution is to switch to a brand of hoodia that has been 100% authenticated as genuine, such as Desert Burn, Hoodoba, King Hoodia or Hoodia Max.
The other reason your old hoodia supplement may not work is because of the digestibility factor: many people have such poor digestion that they never absorb all the active ingredients in genuine hoodia powder. |

As far as supplements go, you need to get some healthy oils, because nervous system function depends heavily on the presence of these healthy oils in your body. These include the omega-3 fatty acids and various subcomponents of that, most notably GLA or gamma linolenic acid. GLA, which is present in human breast milk, is critical for not only the development of brain tissue but the ongoing support of it. You can get GLA in superfoods like spirulina. You can also find GLA in various fish oils, such as cod liver oil, which is another fantastic supplement to be taking on a regular basis. |

What really amazes me about Trudeau's Natural Cures book is just how utterly ridiculous and outrageous the criticism has been towards this book. In one section of the book, Trudeau explains how sunscreen actually causes cancer -- a fact that's absolutely true! (click here to read my own articles on sunscreen) -- and yet critics charge him with "fraud" for daring to say such a thing. |

Strand: I mean, [there are] well-documented health benefits for taking supplements and health benefits that we know of from exercising and eating a healthy diet. If people would just do that, then they wouldn’t have to see me that much. We are starting to see about six or seven types of causes of death in the country, outside of prescription medication, which are really closely tied to our lifestyle. People need to know that heart disease, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, stroke -- I mean the list goes on and on -- are really closely related and can be prevented by a healthier lifestyle. |

Mike: How about a brief on your new book?
Dr. Murray: My latest book is "How To Prevent And Treat Diabetes With Natural Medicine." This book really addresses a growing epidemic of obesity, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. We offer a sound solution, a program that works. I love it when people come in to see me and tell me they have diabetes, because I know the program works. We treat a number (blood sugar levels), so it's something that obviously works or it doesn't. |

Mike: Let's talk about the compliance issue, meaning how well you stick to the program of taking your supplements. With this product, it seems like compliance is going to be higher.
Kunin: The compliance is remarkable. The neatest thing about our product is that people will have a dose and they can actually feel the difference. I've never really heard anybody say, "I took a vitamin pill and I could feel the difference." When you take a look at the studies out there, you start to find that the average person loses about 70 percent of the tablet's nutrient content. |
OlaLoa has developed the most comprehensive powdered nutrition supplements in the world.
Mike: What does the product line consist of?
Kunin: We have two primary products. Our super-multi formula, called Energy, is comprised of 36 strategic vitamins, minerals, amino acids and digestives. They're diabetic-safe and have no artificial sweeteners or stimulants of any sort. Children can take them.
Mike: What's the sweetener in it?
Kunin: We have one gram of fructose, so it has no effect on the glycemic index.
Mike: Well, very low.
Kunin: Yes, it's very safe for diabetics. |

Remember that the FDA is always watching out for claims on products -- they don't want supplement makers to be able to tell the truth about what their products do, because if people knew that supplements worked better than prescription drugs, the drug companies would lose billions.
Let's talk about what the research shows basil extracts, in general, are able to accomplish in the human body. One of the properties of holy basil is that it has Cox-2 inhibiting properties. Of course, we're all familiar with prescription drugs like Vioxx, which are also Cox-2 inhibitors. |

It's also important to take these supplements from several different sources. You don't want to take only superfoods every day and rely on that as your only source of supplemental nutrition. You don't want to take only the Alive food supplement and rely on that. You don't want to rely on any one brand; you want to have a variety of nutritional products so that you're getting whole food sources from three or four different manufacturers on a daily basis. |
And the same thing is true with these supplements. You can take them any time of the day, with any kind of liquids, with or without meals, on an empty stomach or on a full stomach. It doesn't matter when you're consuming whole-food concentrates. Just get this nutrition into your body.
Avoid isolated vitamins and minerals
I also recommend that you move away from isolated vitamins and minerals. So forget about those cheap, low-cost bottles of vitamin C, vitamin E or those B vitamins you might find at the wholesale clubs, pharmacies or grocery stores. |
