This is all stuff the FTC, FDA and USDA probably haven't bothered to mention because they're too busy chasing down outspoken book authors and discrediting nutritional supplements to actually do anything useful for America.

Supplements: The following nutritional supplements will support immune function and healing, which will help combat the viral infections that cause plantar warts. Take 500 mg of vitamin C twice a day. Take 100,000 IU of beta carotene and 400 IU of vitamin E a day. B complex vitamins (50-100 mg a day) will help to reduce the effects of stress, which can weaken your immune system. Taking 200 meg of selenium and 15-30 mg of zinc a day is also recommended.
Herbs: Thuja has a caustic effect on warts as well as antiviral properties. |

If you have ever wandered through the local health food store's sports supplement or bodybuilding aisle, no doubt you have noticed that there is no shortage of nutritional supplements and powders. All claim to be cutting-edge nutrition for building muscle, reducing fat, decreasing recovery time, or boosting endurance. Though many of these products work as advertised in ideal situations, a real lack of basic nutrition and effective delivery of nutrients is evident in people who rely heavily on these supplements. If the protein powder you're taking is poorly digested, of what real benefit is it? |

I believe the AMA intentionally distorts such information in order to achieve its aim of discrediting nutritional supplements, thereby eliminating the competition for high-profit prescription drugs. Remember, the AMA has already been found guilty by U.S. courts of anti-trust attempts to destroy one competing system of medicine (Chiropractic medicine). It's not a stretch at all to believe they would engage in actions to try to destroy another (nutritional medicine).
All we are asking the media to do is report the truth about this particular study. |

Do You Need nutritional supplements?
People sometimes ask us whether supplements are necessary. The sad fact is that nutritional deficiencies are commonplace in the United States, Europe, and Asia, a sign that it is difficult for people to obtain adequate or optimal levels of nutrients from food alone. The following
207 graph, compiled from U. S. Department of Agriculture nutrition data, shows the percentages of Americans who do not obtain the recommended amounts of many vitamins and minerals. |

We believe that nutritional supplements are essential for health, especially for people who have prediabetes or weight problems. There are several reasons behind our thinking, which you may want to share with your own physician.
• People who are prediabetic or overweight have a history of eating nutrient-poor foods. (Otherwise, they would not have developed these diseases.) They consequently suffer from various nutritional deficiencies, which may range from marginal to very serious. |

The program we describe in Stop Prediabetes Now focuses on eating habits, nutritional supplements, and light physical activity. We clearly explain exactly what to do to straighten out your eating habits. Taking this approach is two to three times more effective than any medical treatment in preventing the progression of prediabetes and diabetes. The research and the experience of other doctors clearly back us up.
We're not going to ask you to "go on a diet." That's because most people soon go off their diets and return to the habits that made them sick in the first place. |

To be sure that the supplement you are buying contains what is on the label and is of high quality, buy from reputable sources. The most common avenue for the use of adaptogens within functional foods is in beverages. There are now many drinks that contain ginseng, rhodiola, or schisandra, not for taste but for a functional health benefit. They are sold either as teas or tonic energizer drinks. This trend surely will continue and who knows, people may be eating Reishi Rigatoni and Eleuthero-O's cereal in the near future. |

• Vitamins and minerals function as essential precursors and cofac-tors for all of the other biochemicals made by the body.
• Extra amounts of vitamins and minerals can strengthen weak or impaired biochemical pathways.
• Some vitamins and minerals can lower blood-sugar levels and enhance insulin function.
• Many vitamins and minerals improve liver function, which is important because this organ helps to regulate blood sugar and fats. |

In other words, the study compared what is essentially a short-term painkiller with nutritional supplements that obviously take time to support the rebuilding of tissue. When Celebrex turned out to produce faster pain-reducing results, the mainstream media essentially declared glucosamine supplements to be useless.
It's nonsense, of course. All smoke and mirrors. Or, in this case, a comparison of apples and oranges. Masking pain with a painkiller is always fast. |
