The FDA will regulate, ban or outlaw more herbs and nutritional supplements while Big Pharma pushes patented chemicals as the solution for every health symptom, disorder, or disease... fictitious or otherwise. But the truth is that nature provides all the medicine we really need, and it's available as open-source medicine from plants, with no royalties, no patents and no profiteering monopolistic prices.
Food, herbs and supplements are our best medicine. The healthiest people in our society already know that. But sadly, most doctors still do not. |

When Larry uncovered his own case of type 2 diabetes in June 2005, he already knew a great deal about the dangers of glycation and glycotoxins and immediately adjusted his diet to minimize their damaging effects. In fact, he and his wife both dedicated themselves to "cleaning up" their eating habits by switching to poaching and steaming instead of grilling and frying and limiting their consumption of high-protein and high-fat foods. |

Mike: John, this is a fascinating story and a little bit horrifying, because it is still true today that the truth about nutritional supplements is censored and that nutritional supplements are being confiscated. Doctors, especially psychiatric doctors for some reason, believe that only synthetic chemicals can help patients, and that nutrients play no role whatsoever in human health.
John: Exactly, and it is shocking. It is horrific that this is so horribly suppressed. It is even more suppressed now than it was 20 years ago, and it is a terrible thing. |

These side effects are not—repeat not— associated with the over-the-counter homeopathic arnica remedies you can buy in the store, and are certainly not associated with the topical application of arnica. The Physicians Desk Reference for Herbal Medicines says that when applied topically, arnica preparations have demonstrated "wound healing, antiseptic, and mild analgesic properties. |
But Kidd, a renowned authority on nutritional supplements, explains that while the two phosphatidylserines are indeed different, if you have plenty of omega-3 O in your body it shouldn't make a difference. oS
The serine molecule will simply bind to the ^ omega-3 (assuming you've got enough) and that % m will be that. Though that's theoretical, it makes 1/1 sense. One product—PS Synergy by Crayhon Research—even combines PS with omega-3 fatty acids for you (it's available on my website at www.jonnybowden.com). |

Consumers in general in the United
States spend nearly $21 billion annually on nutritional supplements alone—$4 billion more than what they spend each year on going to the movies and video rentals combined.
Even so, the vast majority—61 percent—of American patients don't feel comfortable discussing the alternative therapies they use with their physicians. Nor does the typical physician probe about diet or supplements when seeing a patient during a routine visit. |
Mullin began to consume a completely whole-foods diet coupled with nutritional supplements, with the hope that it would help to temper the autoimmune response that was raging through the nerves in the lower half of his body.
Over the next eight months Mullin's constant pain and weakness began to ebb. His near-constant dizziness and heart-rate swings diminished. By December 2004, Mullin was able to get into a car and drive for the first time in fifteen months. His first priority was to see his mother, who had been hospitalized. |

The future of nutrition in conventional medicine is very bright, although the integration of nutritional supplements has been a slow, and, at times, lonely process. For example, the Canadian government has just placed a warning on their HMG-reductase statin labels, warning that these drugs can diminish ubiquinone (coenzyme Qiq) levels, which can cause heart failure. This is a mammoth step for the Canadian government, and I applaud them for raising this issue with their population. Unfortunately, our own Food and Drug Administration is not so enlightened yet. |

Did you know you can protect yourself from mercury using nutritional supplements and superfoods? Taking chlorella and spirulina helps remove mercury and other heavy metals. Drinking cilantro in a smoothie also does the trick. Uber-nutritionist Jon Barron has a product called Metal Magic that combines these two ingredients. Check out www.BaselineNutritionals.com

I personally own more nutritional supplements than you see at many vitamin shops... odd, but true. Some people collect lift tickets, I collect nutritional supplements.
Continuing with the product recommendations, I'm a huge fan of Recovazon, a product I consider to be a miracle healing medicine. I've used it to speed recovery after sports injuries and heavy training sessions. I also use it any time I feel I'm fighting a cold or flu. The taste is wicked at first, but this is no candy-flavored junk medicine. This is real medicine provided by nature, right from the Amazon. |

Once you understand the economics and the motives of the parties involved here, the junk science con becomes quite obvious: Pushers of pharmaceuticals will always use dirty tricks to discredit nutritional supplements because it is in their financial interests to do so.
My own financial interests, by the way, are squeaky clean. I sell no supplements, I earn no money from supplement companies, and in fact I am not even paid by NewsTarget for my work on these articles. |

The FDA, drug companies and mainstream media routinely invent scare stories about vitamins and nutritional supplements, then publicize them in order to scare consumers away from nutritional therapies (and herd them into profitable drug treatments).
7) The FDA currently "negotiates" with drug companies over drug safety warning labels, refusing to do its job of protecting the public from dangerous or deadly drugs. Case in point: an FDA advisory panel actually voted to put Vioxx back on the market after it killed more than 50,000 Americans and its own manufacturer voluntarily recalled the drug. |
The FDA has conducted multiple armed raids on vitamin shops and natural health clinics in order to crush alternative medicine and deny the public access to nutritional supplements.
11) The FDA has used disinformation and half-truths to ban ephedra and attack kava kava, among other medicinal herbs. The agency routinely invents or exaggerates selected piece of information to justify any action it desires to take against natural medicine.

But you should remain aware that many companies peddling health nutritional supplements may be selling a very expensive form of hope. Only real, controlled research will show which of these products, if any, have a demonstrable effect on CFS, FM, and the other unexplained illnesses. The BioBran story makes the point that some of these food supplements can alter biological processes that have an impact on health. But the company making this product paid for quite a large number of studies documenting the immune-activating power of their product. |

For the Brigham and Women's Hospital, I think this action we're seeing today is yet another example of how organizations that once accomplished meaningful work have apparently sold their souls to Big Pharma and now operate as little more than drug company front groups.
