Carnitine is not considered an essential nutrient because it's made in the body from two amino acids; however, we do get some from our food.
Carnitine is concentrated in the skeletal muscles, heart muscle, and other parts of the body that use fatty acids as their energy source. The body uses carnitine to keep the right amounts of cholesterol and triglycerides (fats) in the blood and to prevent too many fatty acids from accumulating in the muscles, liver, and heart.

It is possible that a large number of ADD/ADHD diagnoses are in actuality hypoglycemia in disguise. The symptoms are so similar it is difficult to separate them. You have other amino acids that can't compete for glutamic acid absorption. So that may be one way to help reduce the rate at which it would be absorbed.

I would like to explain the difference between complex proteins and individual amino acids with a simple anecdote.
Imagine that you have to make a wedding dress for your daughter. Consuming the complex proteins that we get from cows or other creatures is like going to the second hand store, and buying many other peoples used dresses, coming home and spending several hours ripping apart pieces of the dresses that you like and combining them into a new dress for your daughter. This alternative will take a lot of time and energy and will leave a great deal of garbage. |
